The two elite freshman are expected to be two of the best players in the country.

The Big Lead ranked the 50 best players in college basketball for next season and Kentucky Wildcats Hamidou Diallo and Kevin Knox both were high on the list. This comes as no surprise as both players were the highest rated recruits for John Calipari in the 2017 recruiting class.

Here is what the Big Lead had to say about Knox:

8. Kevin Knox, Freshman F, Kentucky: A 6-foot-9, 205 pound wing who can play shooting guard, but likely will play all over for the Wildcats.

The versatility of Knox is what makes him such an elite prospect. His mid-range jumper and his ability to take the ball to the basket with authority already make him a threat on offense. If he can get a consistent three point shot then he will become almost impossible to guard.

And on Diallo:

3. Hamidou Diallo, Freshman G, Kentucky: Dabbled with the idea of going to the NBA, but didn’t get a high enough guarantee in the draft to enter, so the explosive guard will have to settle for highlight reel dunks in Lexington for a year.

Hamidou has the chance to be one of the more exciting players in college basketball next season. But the questions about his ability to make outside shots still remain. He didn’t fare particularly well in Egypt but guarantee that he’s working on it.

Both Wildcats were ranked ahead of fellow star freshmen Mohamed Bamba (14), Collin Sexton (12), Trevon Duval (11), and Diallo was ranked ahead of DeAndre Ayton (4).

Kentucky and Arizona (Alonzo Trier, Ayton) are the only two teams on the list with two players in the top 10. Both Wildcats teams are expected to be in the top 5 when the official preseason rankings come out.
