The Sacramento Kings announced this weekend that the team has signed De’Aaron Fox to his rookie contract.
Tabbed with the fifth overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft, Fox was just one of four freshman in the nation to average at least 16.7 points, 4.6 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game. A Bob Cousy Award finalist, Fox paced the SEC in assist average and earned Third Team All-American honors by CBS Sports, USA Today and ESPN.
Fox upped his game once postseason play began, including 22.0 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists en route to MVP honors during UK’s SEC Championship run. That included a UK freshman tournament-record 28 points versus Alabama in the semifinals.
But Fox’s best postseason performance came in the Sweet 16 with 39 points against UCLA, the most ever by a freshman in a tournament game.
On Friday, Fox made his NBA Summer League debut and scored 18 points in an 89-85 loss to the Phoenix Suns. He also recorded five steals, four assists, three rebounds and a blocked shot with just one turnover in 27 minutes.
