Immanuel Quickley’s recruitment seems to be a foregone conclusion; he’s coming to Kentucky, and it’s only a matter of time before he makes that official.
However, the rest of Kentucky’s 2018 class is up in the air. The Wildcats are still in the hunt for players like Bol Bol, Zion Williamson, Romeo Langford, Cameron Reddish, Quentin Grimes, Darius Garland, Louis King (once he gets offered), Marvin Bagley (if he doesn’t reclassify) and R.J. Barrett (if he does reclassify).
With all the talk of superteams and package deals, Kentucky landing one could mean they land two more by association, which would of course be huge for Calipari, even with all the insanely overloaded recruiting classes he’s brought in.
But at the end of the day, Calipari can only land so many, and one player could be all the difference for Kentucky in 2018. If Calipari could only land one, which would you want it to be?
Many will likely want Zion Williamson, and with good reason; he’s the most-hyped high school player since LeBron James. He could probably make the final round of an NBA Dunk Contest if he could compete.
Zion has already been featured on the cover of Slam Magazine, and could go wherever he wanted to go. But to me, the biggest get would be R.J. Barrett. Team USA didn’t lose in the U19 World Cup because Calipari is a bad X’s and O’s coach; they lost because R.J. Barrett has the potential to be the best Canadian who’s ever played basketball.
So Barrett would be my choice, but who’s yours?
Which 2018 recruit would you most want Calipari to land?

Marvin Bagley (if he stays in 2018 class)
R.J. Barrett (if he reclassifies)
