What a year it was for UK running back Benny Snell.

Without playing the first two regular-season games, Snell ran for over 1,000 yards and crossed the goal line 13 times. Snell was also named an All-American and earned All SEC Freshman team honors. A spectacular freshman year, to say the least.

Yet, There hasn’t been much buzz about him in the offseason. This doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a bad thing, he’s probably in the weight room as I’m typing this. However, Kentucky fans need to understand how special Benny Snell is, and how special he could be, for the Wildcats.

Every week last year, Snell did something that made us say “did that just happen!?”. Although we all saw his greatness, I think most fans were more intrigued by Boom.

There were a few factors that went into it, but can you really blame them? Williams rushed for over 1200 yards and scored eight touchdowns. Not only were his stats amazing, but he’s been a UK favorite for a few years now.

We need to take a second to appreciate how great our running attack was last year. Two 1000 yard rushers, and Jo Jo on the sidelines when we needed an extra boost.

Ok, back to the story. Snell is poised for another big year with the Cats. With Snell being the main option this year at RB, there’s a sense of both excitement and anxiety. Snell needs to be prepared for every game because at the top of every defenses game plan, it’ll read “stop #26”.

I fully expect Benny Snell to come prepared for the 2017 season. We as fans should be extremely excited for what Benny is going to do this year! We have a great running back, and it’s going to be a lot of fun to watch!
