Defensive end Denzil Ware, linebacker Jordan Jones, and safety Mike Edwards were all named to the media Preseason All SEC team. Ware made the second unit while Edwards and Jones were picked for the third team.
Ware, a 6’2” 245 lb. junior had 12 tackles for a loss last season out of his 70 tackles overall. He also had 5.5 sacks.
Jones is a 6’2” 221 lb. junior had 109 tackles last year with 15 for a loss and 4 sacks. He led the SEC in solo tackles. He was 3rd in total tackles in the conference.
The 6’ 200 lb. Edwards had 100 tackles from the safety position along with 5.5 for a loss and half a sack. He had 3 interceptions which put him 4th in the SEC.

Ware led the SEC edge defenders with 29 defensive stops last season. In 2015 he returned a fumble, on an attempted 2 point extra point play, 97 yards for a score against South Carolina.
Edwards was also recently added to the Jim Thorpe Award watch list, one of 45 players from around the country looking to be named the nation’s best defensive back.

Jones is on the Bronko Nagurski Trophy Watch List which is given to the defensive player of the year.
