Kentucky Basketball Recruiting: Evan Daniels gives update on Marvin Bagley, Bol Bol, more UK targets

With several big recruiting events coming up, many of UK’s top targets in 2018 (and perhaps 2019) will be in action.

The recruiting season is heating up now that the July live period has arrived.

Over the next week, we’ll see many of the Kentucky Wildcats’ top targets in action at various events, one of which being the Nike Peach Jam, which will featured Marvin Bagley III.

Regarded as the best prospect in all of high school basketball, Bagley is easily the biggest player that will be playing in Augusta this week.

With the Peach Jam on deck, Scout.com’s Evan Daniels spoke with KSTV to update the recruitment of Bagley and other UK targets. Daniels doesn’t see a decision from Bagley coming anytime soon, so this could be a recruitment that isn’t decided until the spring. Bagley’s only current official visit scheduled is with the Duke Blue Devils later this month, but you can bet UK will also get a visit in at some point.

But Bagley isn’t the only big-time recruit in action at the Peach Jam, which will include Bol Bol. The five-star forward is among UK’s top targets. Daniels thinks this recruitment is currently a two-horse race between UK and the Arizona Wildcats, even after Bol was cut from John Calipari’s USA U19 team.

Daniels also gave a brief update on Class of 2019 star R.J. Barrett, who may jump into the 2018 class and be near the top of UK’s big board. Barrett just scored Calipari’s U19 team for 38 points, which helped Canada win the FIBA U19 World Cup. Seeing him dominate current and incoming college players like that will only help make it an easier decision for him to jump into the 2018 class.
