On the first day of the demolition derby known as NBA free agency, the Miami Heat announced that former Cat, Edrice "Bam" Adebayo, signed his rookie contract.
Per team policy, the details of Bam's deal are not available to the public.
After a wild pre-draft process where projections had Adebayo falling out of the first round, the Heat selected him with the 14th overall pick and the last in the lottery.
Bam went straight to work in his first summer league game in Orlando and demonstrated the same tenacity and athleticism that made him a crowd favorite during his one season in Lexington.
Against the Charlotte Hornets, sans former teammate Malik Monk, Adebayo was a bull in the paint. He refused to yield an inch of the paint and muscled his way to the basket several times. Bam also demonstrated a soft mid-range shooting touch, but the the highlights of his day were put back slams and several nasty blocks.
He finished with 14 points, ten rebounds, and three blocks. Numbers that are on par with his 13 points and eight rebound average during last year's campaign at Kentucky.
