The Sacramento Kings are reportedly willing to trade their No. 5 and No. 10 picks to get De’Aaron Fox, according to Sporting News.
Fox has rocketed up draft boards, with some experts and insiders reporting that he could go as high as No. 2 in this year’s draft. Despite the rumors that the Los Angeles Lakers aren’t impressed with Lonzo Ball, he’s still expected to be taken No. 2 overall. That means Fox falls somewhere in the 3-4 range, to the Philadelphia 76ers or the Phoenix Suns.
The Kings don’t expect that Fox falls to their pick at No. 5, so they’d like to package their picks and trade with Philadelphia to get that No. 3 pick and guarantee that Fox heads to Sacramento, according to the Sporting News report.
Fox has done nothing but help his draft stock since the season ended. He’s done extremely well in draft interviews and in workouts.
“According to NBA Media, he is mature, smart and handled the spotlight well during and after his freshman year at Kentucky,” Joe Rodgers said on Sporting News.
This time of year always gets interesting with these draft rumors. With all the drama we’ve heard about Ball, I don’t even think there’s a guarantee that Fox is available when the No. 3 pick comes around. But the Kings seem determined to make Fox their guy.
