Immanuel Quickley recruiting update: Admits UK is his leader; called a mix of Brandon Knight and John Wall

Quickley is drawing some lofty comparisons as he admits UK is his favorite.

Immanuel Quickley continues to look like a heavy UK lean as the summer rolls on.

The five-star point guard has been favoring UK for some time now, and he’s even admitting the Cats lead for his services. In an interview with KSR, Quickley made it no secret that John Calipari and his program stand out above the other schools in the hunt for the elite guard.

A big reason being is Quickley being coached by Calipari with the Team USA U19 team as they compete in Egypt.

“I think right now Kentucky is definitely the favorite.” said Quickley. “I think it’s an advantage because I’m getting to know Coach Calipari right now.”

Elsewhere, 247 Sports recruiting director Jerry Meyer also thinks UK is in great shape for Quickley, who Meyer calls a mix between John Wall and Brandon Knight.

"Quickley is a name that pops up. I think they're in a good position with him," Meyer said. "Just to put it in a Kentucky context, he reminds me of a mix between John Wall and Brandon Knight in that he looks like John Wall physically. Same body type, same height and their offensive game is similar.

“He's not on the level athletically that Wall was but he shoots the ball really well. I really like his shooting ability. I think he has a good feel for the game and he's more dangerous as a shooter and pick and roll player than a dynamic point guard like a John Wall or De'Aaron Fox.”

At this stage, Quickley is planning to make a decision before his senior season as UK remains the heavy favorite.
