Simi Shittu has announced that he’ll form a list of five or 10 schools after his AAU season ends, according to ZagsBlog.
Shittu is a five-star versatile forward who stands 6’10”, and just won the Co-MVP Award at the NBPA Top 100 Camp. He’s being recruited by pretty much all of the top college basketball programs, including Kentucky.
“[Kentucky] talked to my coaches a couple months ago and they’re also keeping tabs on me this summer,” Shittu said. “Notre Dame, Michigan, UCLA, Louisville, UConn, Maryland, those are some of the schools.”
Of course, Duke is also in the mix as well.
Shittu, who compares his game to LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo (at the AAU level, at least), also said that joining a team with other Canadian players isn’t his priority.
“I don’t really care if I go to a school where they have lots of Canadians. I rather have my own identity,” Shittu said.
What is a big deal for Shittu is player development and getting to the NBA (Kentucky is pretty good at those things).
“I guess (I want to go) where I can play my game, a lot of development, a lot of NBA alumni and a coach that lets his players play,” Shittu said in May.
