John Calipari has never been filmed “in action” on the recruiting trail, going into a home and making his pitch to the player.
Until now.
Thanks to a documentary on 2018 recruit Immanuel Quickley, we now see Calipari’s recruiting in all its glory.
In his pitch, Cal talks about pursuing the NBA, making it to the league as soon as possible, and returning to school afterwards.
“Your basketball window is four to five years. Your academic window is fifty,” Calipari said.
Calipari also drags his competition, saying he knows he can help players accomplish their dreams more effectively than them, and they know it too.
“If it’s facts, they lose. If it’s the truth, they lose,” Cal said. “They know what’s happened for our kids with how I coach, and what’s happened for their kids and how they coach. They can’t beat us.”
Quickley is the only point guard in the 2018 class with a scholarship offer from Cal. He has cut his list down to four: Kentucky, Kansas, Maryland and Miami.
