Good morning, ladies and gentlemen of the Big Blue Nation, and welcome to the Tuesday Morning Quickies.
Today’s lead story is from the Courier-Journal, who reports that NFL representatives showed up to meet Dominique Hawkins on Monday during his workout for the L.A. Lakers:
Multiple NFL teams have recently expressed interest, but, according to Feldhaus Jr., Hawkins has said he is not interested in football at this point. Instead he’s focused on his basketball career and is currently working out for NBA teams and exploring options overseas.
Interesting. Looks like Dominique is in the catbird seat in some ways, although a pro basketball career will be a huge challenge at this point. Still, he has all the necessary physical tools except hight to be an NBA player, and one Isaiah Thomas might scoff at that comment, rightfully.
I hope Dominique winds up on a roster, but if not, I heard somewhere that the NFL pays pretty well…

Tragic news: Former UK football coach Guy Morriss has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. He’s only 66 years old.
Sadly, Nick Roush, the author of the piece, is right — Alzheimer’s is always a terminal diagnosis, unlike AIDS or most cancer. The drugs are getting better, but at this point they mostly just make the disease easier to manage.

Rivals’ Justin Rowland has a free edition of The War Room available. You’ll like it.

SI’s Seth Davis has the Wildcats ranked #1… oh, wait, it’s the Arizona Wildcats. The Kentucky Wildcats, though, are ranked right behind at #2.
-
Nets doing final due diligence on Hamidou Diallo? Consider:
There appears to be little doubt the Nets have interest in Diallo, but just how much? They interviewed him at the Pre-Draft Combine, then had him in for a workout last Thursday and interviewed adults close to him, perhaps on more than one occasion.
Other Kentucky sports

Baseball’s Nick Mingione is the SEC Coach of the Year. Absolutely deserved.

Softball is headed to Eugene, Oregon for the super-regional round of the NCAA Softball Tournament.

- Bill Connelly for College Football Commissioner? Well, there are certainly many worse choices. This is mostly tongue-in-cheek, but it is a good series of articles looking at the issues surrounding college football.

Now that South Carolina has made the Final Four, it must prove it can consistently compete in the SEC.
Sometimes, teams that have a breakthrough like this go on to develop a winning tradition. Sometimes, they are a flash in the pan. Which will USC (East) be?

Mohamed Bamaba makes Texas a dark-horse contender for the Big 12. Probably right, he’s really good.
-
Criticism of Pittsburgh’s decision to restrict the transfer of Cameron Johnson to a school outside the ACC, or surrender a year of eligibility.
-
Wow.
The number of transfers has grown to 631 so far. 271 of those players are still undecided on where they will go to school next season.

Ridiculous. Enes Kanter is receiving death threats for calling Turkish president Tayyip Edrogan “the Hitler of our century.”
Turkey is an embarrassment to NATO and should not be allowed into the EU while Edrogan continues his repressive ways.

The “alien megastructure” star is acting weird again. Known as Tabby’s Star, it has begun to dim again, and one possible explanation is a Dyson swarm.

How do you code for a quantum computer? Umm… very carefully?
