NCAA Basketball: Washington State at UCLA Richard Mackson-USA TODAY Sports

In the world of sports, there are all kinds of parents who do or say things they shouldn’t. But none are as bad as LaVar Ball. Ball proved this once again by getting into it with Kristine Leahy while on the Herd with Colin Cowherd yesterday.

First off...Is that a Big Baller Brand tie? This man has lost his mind...Anyways, LaVar has proven time and again that he’s immature and childish, but of all the crazy LaVar moments, this one takes the cake. In this instance, he’s like a four-year-old refusing to acknowledge his mother because she said they couldn’t get ice cream. Granted, Leahy has been critical of LaVar’s fathering in the past, which gives him the right to be unhappy with her. But to refuse to look at her, to talk down to her, and to claim that BBB is not going to market to half the world’s population because it’s not a “women’s company,” goes way too far, not only in talking to Leahy but to women around the world.

The more LaVar talks, the more he hurts Lonzo Ball (and his other sons). I can only imagine the things Lonzo will have to deal with in an NBA locker room when LaVar starts going after his teammates and opponents, telling them they aren’t fast enough, aren’t big enough, aren’t good enough. It doesn’t seem likely that LaVar will be detrimental to Lonzo’s draft stock, but this type of behavior is going to catch up to him. At some point, his ego is going to get so large that it becomes a massive roadblock, looming in the path of his sons’ careers. And he’ll have no one to blame but himself when they can’t get around it.
