Kentucky has made the cut for a pair of targets in the 2018 class.

Five-star forward Naz Reid and five-star guard Javonte Smart have set their new lists, and UK made the cut for both.

Seeing names like Kansas, North Carolina, UCLA, Arizona and Louisville on these lists shows just how much potential both players have, so it’s good to see UK is still in the running for both.

Smart, a 6-4, 185-pound guard out of Baton Rouge, is ranked as the top prospect from the state of Louisiana in 2018 in addition to being the No. 3 point guard and No. 11 overall recruit, according to 247 Sports Composite.

Thus far, Kentucky has shown more interest in Immanuel Quickley for a point guard target in 2018, but Smart could end up being the superior player. Smart is also more of a combo guard, so it’s possible UK targets both players.

Reid, a 6-9, 220-pound forward out of New Jersey, is currently ranked the No. 12 player in the class of 2018 by 247 Sports Composite, as well as the No. 4 power forward. While Reid has shown strong interest in UK, we’ve seen John Calipari show a lot of interest in fellow 2018 forwards Marvin Bagley, Simisola Shittu and Bol Bol.

It remains to be seen how high both Reid and Smart are on Calipari’s big board, but the good news is UK is still in the running for both.

And for what it’s worth, UK is the 247 crystal ball favorite for both players.
