Bol Bol talks recruitment, UK offer and more

Bol was shocked by the fact that Kentucky offered him.

Ever since moving from Kansas to California, Bol Bol has gained a great deal of attention from major programs.

That includes Kentucky, as John Calipari offered Bol a scholarship last week.

"At first I didn't believe it and I thought it was a joke," said Bol of the Kentucky offer, according to Rivals. "It was kind of cool. They are always good every year and always have good players. Everybody that goes there goes to the NBA."

One thing that could potentially help UK with Bol is the fact that he appears to have a friendship with now-former point guard De’Aaron Fox.

On top of getting an offer from Kentucky, Bol has received offers from Arizona, USC, Oregon and UCLA since moving to California.

Bol had good things to say about the West Coast schools, saying "I love the school and their program," about UCLA. "My relationship with the coaches is all right."

He also talked about his visit to USC, which he took in the winter.

"I took a visit there and it was pretty good," Bol said. "I liked the campus and I have a pretty good relationship with the coaches and they came to my school and visited me."

Bol has been dominant in the EYBL, as the 2019 recruit has averaged 25.4 points, 9.9 rebounds and 4.1 blocks per game.

"I'm just playing better competition," Said the 7’2” junior. "That's really it, playing against a lot better people is helping. Being happy helps a lot. Some people can play mad but I don't like to play mad.

"I'm just trying my best. I'm big but I can go inside and outside."

Bol has a lot to think about now with his ramped up recruiting, and he’s not close to committing anywhere.

"I'm just taking my time and still focusing on school right now," he said. "I'm pretty far (from a decision)."
