UK is still working on finishing their 2017 class, but the 2018 recruiting season is really heating up.
With the Nike EYBL and other AAU events taking place, John Calipari and his staff are traveling across the country watching some of the top 2018 players compete. UK doesn’t currently have a pledge in this class, but that doesn’t mean they’re not in great shape with several big-time prospects.
Over at ESPN, Jeff Borzello gave an update on who UK has been watching on the travel circuit thus far:
Kentucky Wildcats: As usual, coach John Calipari and the Wildcats are going after the best of the best. They've been recruiting Marvin Bagley III (No. 1), Zion Williamson (No. 2) and Romeo Langford (No. 3) for a while, and Calipari was watching Cameron Reddish (No. 4) and Jordan Brown (No. 5) in person during the second live period. Calipari visited with Moses Brown (No. 6) in early April, too. That covers most of the early Kentucky targets, but the Wildcats are also in the market for a point guard. Right now, they're eyeing Immanuel Quickley (No. 12), Quentin Grimes (No. 14) and Javonte Smart (No. 24). Kentucky also offered fast-rising 7-footer Bol Bol (No. 41) last week.
Of those names, UK is the 247 crystal ball favorite for Immanuel Quickley, Marvin Bagley III, Zion Williamson, Javonte Smart, Bol Bol and Moses Brown. Louisville is the favorite for Romeo Langford, while Kansas is favored for Quentin Grimes, and Duke is favored for Cameron Reddish.
UK has also watched R.J. Barrett, who may reclassify from the 2019 class into 2018. Duke is his current favorite, but if he reclassifies, that would lead to a major shakeup of who Duke and UK prioritize in this class.
Who do you want to see UK land in 2018?
