Baker joins combo guard Mark Smith and Pitt graduate transfer Cam Johnson as guys who’ve received offers from UK this week. It’s unclear when any of the three plan on making a decision, especially since they’ve all been offered within the last three days.
The 6-2, 165-pound Baker is ranked 119th overall and the 22nd-best shooting guard by 247 Sports. ESPN ranks him 65th overall and the 19th-best shooting guard. Scout.com ranks Baker 87th overall and the 20th-best shooting guard. Rivals.com ranks him 80th overall.
Kentucky desperately needs another shooter in this class. Assuming don’t get that in Kevin Knox, who is favoring Duke and North Carolina, UK appears to be moving on to contingency plans.
Well, Baker probably shouldn’t be called a backup plan. He looks like as good of a three-point shooter as UK could hope to add in the spring, and that’s exactly what they need to finish off this class.
