Kentucky Basketball an early favorite for 2018 NCAA Championship

Vegas favors Kentucky, Duke, and Louisville to cut down the nets in 2018

This season just ended, but it is never too early to look forward to next season, especially if you like to play the odds in Las Vegas.

Recently released odds from Westgate in Las Vegas have Kentucky at 10/1 odds to bring home championship number nine in San Antonio next spring. That is the best odds of all teams, tied with the Duke Blue Devils and Louisville Cardinals.

There is a lot left to change with these teams. The Wildcats, Blue Devils, and Cardinals will all be affected (positively or negatively) by the NBA Draft Entry deadline and undecided recruits.

Kentucky is still in the running for several uncommitted recruits including superstars Mohamed Bamba and Kevin Knox. Duke is also in contention for Bamba and Knox. Kentucky will also be affected by the decisions of players such as Bam Adebayo and Isaiah Briscoe, while Duke will be affected by the decisions of Luke Kennard, Grayson Allen, and Frank Jackson. For Louisville, Donovan Mitchell is a key factor. He’s projected as a mid-late first rounder, so his return or departure will greatly impact Louisville’s title hopes.

Regardless, it is nice to see that the folks in Vegas are already liking Kentucky’s chances to be in San Antonio next year.

Also, it will be the 20th anniversary of the 1998 championship team, which also won it all in San Antonio.

Time to get nine in 2018. Go Cats.
