Jarren Williams de-committed from Kentucky earlier this week, but the Cats are not out of the race for him, according to Justin Rowland of Rivals.
“UK is number one,” Williams said.
This is a bit of s surprise. A player decommitting from a program usually means he’s going anywhere but that school. So it’s a good sign that the Cats are really still in the race.
Kentucky is one of several schools in Williams’ recruitment, which includes the powerhouse Alabama Crimson Tide. Maybe Mark can steal one from Saban?
Also contending for Williams are Florida, LSU, Michigan State, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Missouri, Mississippi State, South Carolina and Miami among others. He’ll probably start doing camps with these schools over the summer.
The Times Picayune is actually predicting Williams to be part of LSU’s 2018 class. We probably shouldn’t get our hopes up on Williams eventually recommitting to Kentucky.
