Kentucky is losing its entire backcourt, and a big part of who makes it up next season won’t be known for another month.
Pittsburgh graduate transfer Cameron Johnson, four-star combo guard Mark Smith, and current UK redshirt freshman Hamidou Diallo are all guys who could be at UK next season, or they could be elsewhere for various reasons. Smith is about to make his college decision Wednesday, which is when Johnson begins his visit to UK.
As for Diallo, he’s testing the NBA Draft waters as expected, but it’s not a given he returns to UK. Speaking with Spectrum News, Scout.com’s Evan Daniels gave an update on Johnson, Smith and Diallo.
Daniels said Kentucky is in great for Johnson, but it’s looking like Smith is trending elsewhere. As for Diallo, Daniels reiterated that testing the NBA waters has been the plan all along. He also thinks Diallo’s decision to go pro or return to UK could go either way.
