Kevin Knox will be making his college decision very soon.
In an interview with Rivals.com, Kevin Knox Sr. revealed his son will make a decision sometime between May 1-7. This comes after the Knox family hosted coaches from his remaining five schools for in-home visits this past week, including John Calipari on Tuesday.
The 6-9, 206-pound Knox is rated as a consensus top-20 prospect by all the major recruiting services, including No. 9 by Scout, Rivals and ESPN. 247 Sports has him ranked No. 17 overall.
Knox’s 247 crystal ball has been interesting to watch in recent weeks. Four of the last seven picks have been for North Carolina, who looks like a slight favorite at the moment, but the last two predictions have been ‘foggy,’ so perhaps this is still more up in the air than we realize.
That would be good for Kentucky, who has been viewed as a distant fourth or fifth-place among the five schools in contention, in large part because P.J. Washington and Jarred Vanderbilt have already committed. They play essentially the same position as Knox, and Kentucky also has Wenyen Gabriel returning, so this is a pretty crowded frontcourt for Knox to join.
Missouri had gotten some recent buzz, but it looks like North Carolina and Duke are still the slight favorites. Then again, we’re just guessing at this point, and we may be doing so until Knox actually says where he’s attending college.
