Kentucky Wildcats Basketball: Final Scout 2017 Recruiting Rankings

How did the current Wildcat commits stack up according to Scout?

NCAA Basketball: NCAA Tournament-Indianapolis Practice Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

Scout.com has released their final rankings as far as the 2017 college basketball recruits, and the Kentucky Wildcats are featured prominently:

Hamidou Diallo: #10 Overall/5 Stars

Jarred Vanderbilt: #11 Overall/5 Stars

PJ Washington: #14 Overall/5 Stars

Nick Richards: #16 Overall/5 Stars

Quade Green: #22 Overall/5 Stars

Shai Alexander: #39 Overall/5 Stars

Jemarl Baker: #85 Overall/4 Stars

The news here is that Diallo was recognized as a member of the class when the other services didn’t include him. This gives John Calipari another top-10 recruit.

Jarred Vanderbilt was also on the cusp of breaking into the top ten as he was bumped all the way up to No. 11. He’s one of the best the 2017 class has to offer, but injuries helped lead to a drop in the rankings over the last year.

It also is nice seeing Quade Green come in one spot ahead of Trae Young, being that it came down to those two guys to be UK’s point guard of the future. John Calipari wanted Young, but because he wanted to wait until the spring, Cal went all-in on Green, and it looks like he made the right call.

As for the recruits UK is still coming after, Mo Bamba checked in at No. 2 overall, while Kevin Knox was up at No. 9. Bamba is the likeliest of the two to ultimately pick the Cats, which would give them three top-11 commits and five in the top 16 of this class.

Overall, these rankings look much better than the ones that ESPN revealed yesterday. And as with ESPN, the ‘Cats hold the #1 class ranking with Scout.
