Kentucky Wildcats Basketball: ESPN 100 2017 Final Recruit Rankings

How did the new ‘Cats stack up?

High School Basketball: McDonald's All-American Portraits Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

ESPN.com released their final rankings for the 2017 class and all of the current Kentucky Wildcats made the top 100.

PJ Washington- #11/5 Stars

Nick Richards- #16/5 Stars

Jarred Vanderbilt- #18/5 Stars

Quade Green- #23/5 Stars

Shai Alexander- #33/ 4 Stars

Jemarl Baker- #63/4 Stars

I expected PJ Washington to make the jump that he did but I am surprised that Vanderbilt remained outside of the top 15. He has been on an impressive streak during the high school all star practices and games. I really thought he would be higher than he finished.

Shai Alexander was on the cusp of a five star ranking and he still may be depending on how he finishes according to the other services. Alexander put on a clinic this past weekend at the Derby City Festival Classic in Louisville, Kentucky. He finished with 29 points and was scary efficient on offense. He received MVP awards and won the three point contest on top of it.

As for the uncommitted guys Kentucky is still after, Kevin Knox checks in at #9, while Mo Bamba is up at #3. Kentucky badly needs to get one of those guys, and it looks like Bamba is their best shot at having a top-10 player in this class.

John Calipari has the top class in the 2017 rankings according to ESPN with a chance to add more in the coming weeks. Right now, Cal doesn’t have a top 10 recruit. The caveat is that Hamidou Diallo would be in the top 10 if he had not reclassified in order to join the team during the season.

Keep checking back for more updates on final recruiting rankings for 2017.
