Kentucky may be viewed as an underdog in the recruitment of Kevin Knox, but don’t tell that to Knox himself.
In an interview with Pat Lawless of Made Hoops, Knox broke down all of the schools still in contention for the five-star forward, which has Kentucky facing the likes of Florida State, North Carolina, Missouri and Duke.
When it came to John Calipari and his Wildcats, Knox had nothing but glowing remarks:
“They have a lot of great players that are committed there, and I’m really happy for them,” Knox said. “Coach Calipari has been on me 24-7, and Coach Kenny Payne is one of the best assistant coaches in the country. I would be able to come in and play with those great guys, who I know I am able to play with because we have been playing together at these all-star events. Their commits have been in my ear all the time, and they just have a great overall school.”
Knox made it clear that this is still a wide-open recruitment with no final decision having been made yet.
“I’m wide open right now. All five schools can get me,” Knox said. “I just plan on talking with my parents soon, and a decision will be coming very soon. All five schools have a chance, and I’ll make the decision in the next couple of weeks or in early May.”
Knox also said he expects to get in-home visits from coaches before he makes his decision. It’s usually during those final visits from guys like Calipari and Coach K that seal the deal in recruitments. Hopefully it’s Calipari who does so this time.
However, don’t count out Cuonzo Martin and Missouri, who appear to be making a strong push for Knox after his recent official visit. The Tigers have been gaining a lot of steam as of late, so much so that one of 247 Sports’ Duke writers just logged a crystal ball pick for Knox to Missouri.
We shall see...
