It looks like Kentucky is still in the mix for Mark Smith.
The four-star combo guard is in Lexington this weekend to play in the Derby Classic. There, he’s rooming with current Kentucky signee Shai Alexander, who is part of an already deep backcourt class coming in next season.
That now includes Jemarl Baker, who committed to Kentucky earlier this week, which seemed to indicate Smith was no longer an option, being that there are only 2-3 roster spots left. However, Smith is not only still interested in Kentucky, but he’s also planning to visit soon, according to Ben Roberts of the Herald-Leader:
Mark Smith says Jemarl Baker's recent commitment to UK doesn't change his recruitment at all. Still very interested. Visiting UK next week.

Mark Smith says Kenny Payne texted him before he came up to Derby Classic. Said good luck. UK says there's plenty of room for him & Baker.

Mark Smith specifically said he was excited to be in Kentucky this week, since he's visiting next week. Roommate is Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

Smith is coming off a visit to Michigan State, and the Spartans are now viewed as a the favorite in his recruitment. But anytime Kentucky can get a recruit on campus, John Calipari has a way of convincing recruits that Lexington is the best place for them to spend their college careers.
