Isaiah Briscoe was scheduled to be on infamous United flight; never considered 3rd year at UK

Perhaps the big winners here are the airport security guards.

Isaiah Briscoe dropped by Kentucky Sports Radio Tuesday morning to discuss his time at UK and his future plans. Overall, he was much more fun and engaged than what the media has usually gotten from him. But there were two comments, in particular, that really stood out from the interview.

The first compelling story was that Briscoe was originally scheduled to be on United flight 3411 from Chicago to Louisville. In case you have been under a rock, the forceful removal of a passenger from the plane has gained worldwide attention and the footage is downright horrifying.

Briscoe, who was delayed at Newark Airport and missed flight 3411, says there was no way he would have given up his seat if United randomly selected him to be “re-accommodated.” Could you imagine trying to go at Briscoe in an enclosed space? He has to be on the all-time UK “Don’t Mess with Me” squad.

His second big comment is more basketball related. When asked if he considered returning to Kentucky for his senior year, Briscoe simply said, “No.”

If you listen to the entire interview, it is obvious that it was never part of the plan. He sought feedback from NBA scouts prior to last year’s draft, and ultimately chose to return to UK to work on his shooting consistency. In his mind, he has improved the areas that were identified in the scouting process last year, and now it is time to move on.

While many will debate whether or not Isaiah Briscoe is making the right decision, most would agree that he has left his mark on the Kentucky basketball program. He added an element of toughness that Wildcat fans love and opponents love to hate.

If you want to hear more from Briscoe about his relationship with Coach Calipari, his views on how the NCAA tournament ended, and his relationship with his teammates you should download the whole podcast. Also, keep an eye out for announcements about his autograph tour as the details are still being finalized.
