The Kentucky Wildcats recently reached out to 4-star combo guard Mark Smith, and they’re going to follow up with a visit, according to Smith’s AAU coach.
University of Kentucky will be in to see Ramey Jets United's Mark Smith next Thursday!

Smith is a 6’5”, 225-lb guard who’s ranked as the No. 102 overall prospect in the 2017 class by 247 Sports. As a 4-star recruit, he’s one of the top players yet to sign in the 2017 class. He was Illinois’ Mr. Basketball after leading his high school, Edwardsville, to a 30-2 record while averaging 21.9 points, 8.4 assists and 8.2 rebounds.
"I like the style of play and I like Coach [John] Calipari a lot," Smith said, according to CatsPause. "Obviously, I know about the pro players they produce and how Coach Cal develops his guards."
Smith’s list currently consists of Illinois, Missouri, Texas, Kansas State, Ohio State and Northwestern. However, he just picked up an offer from Michigan State last week, and with Kentucky showing interest things could change.
He said his recruitment is still open, but he’s trying to narrow his list.
Smith would only add to an already star-studded recruiting class as a great role player. You know you’ve got depth when 5-star players are starting and 4-star players are coming in as subs.
