Kentucky is evidently stepping up in their recruitment of star 2018 recruit Zion Williamson.
While the star forward from South Carolina was getting plenty of interest from Kentucky, Zion still hadn't received an official offer from John Calipari. Now it seems like the Cats are stepping up their game.
According to Evan Daniels of Scout.com, John Calipari met with Zion Williamson face to face Tuesday night. While the details of the meeting have yet to be released, Zion did reveal that Calipari offered him a scholarship.
While Zion reportedly isn't anywhere close to a college decision Kentucky is going to need to be relentlessly in pursuit of him from here on out if the team wants to get him committed. This athletic freak show is arguably the top player in the class of 2018 and has just about every top program high on his heels.
While Kentucky certainly has an advantage with Williamson, as they do with any recruit, so do a mix of other teams including his hometown South Carolina Gamecocks who are currently in the Final Four. This is a solid step forward for Kentucky to potentially land Zion, but there is still much that needs to be played out.
