The updated betting odds have been released now that the tournament bracket is official. While Kentucky is still near the top, there are a couple of other blue bloods that are ahead of them.
Westgate Casino has the Cats third in the betting odds. First is the Duke Blue Devils (because why wouldn’t the odds makers push that narrative) at 5/1 odds. Second is the North Carolina Tar Heels at 6/1 odds. After them, Kentucky, Villanova and Kansas are tied at 8/1 odds.
That’s a slight drop for Kentucky, as when the opening odds came out in early April of last year, they had 6/1 odds.
As for the favorites to win the South Region, the oddsmakers have Kentucky as 11-4 favorites, behind UNC at 5-4.
Meanwhile, FiveThirtyEight also has Kentucky as one of their favorites to win it all. The Cats, according to the prediction, have an eight percent chance of winning the National Championship.
They’re given a 97-percent chance at beating Northern Kentucky, a 68 percent chance at winning their round of 32-match-up, a 47-percent chance at winning in the Sweet 16, a 30-percent chance of winning the region, a 17-percent chance of winning in the Final Four and then an eight percent chance of winning it all.
Only Villanova, Gonzaga and Kansas have a better chance of winning it all, meaning Kentucky s given the best percentage chance of anyone in their region.
