Kentucky doesn’t always look pretty, but the Cats just keep winning.

Their latest was a thrilling win over Alabama that saw De’Aaron Fox carry Kentucky to a 79-74 win. Fox scored a career-high 28 points on 8-of-12 shooting and went 11-of-15 from the free-throw stripe. He also notched two assists, five rebounds and two steals.

Late in the second with Kentucky was hanging on to a two-point lead with 3:30 left, Fox took over. scoring seven straight points to give Kentucky an eight-point lead with under two minutes to go and effectively seal the win.

Fellow freshman guard Malik Monk went for 20 on 6-of-14 shooting to go with four boards and two assists.

Freshman forward Bam Adebayo chipped in 10 points, nine boards, three steals and a block.

Senior guard Dominique Hawkins was a force on the defensive end while chipping in seven points.

As fun as the win is, the Cats have a lot to clean up from this game, mainly the 13 turnovers, 10 of which coming in the first half and eight coming from Fox and Monk. However, neither committed one in the second half in a game where every possession mattered.

Still, Kentucky made enough mistakes to allow Alabama to keep within a point heading into halftime, and even though Kentucky took several comfortable leads in the second half, the Tide kept fighting back and ensured this came down to the final minutes.

Kentucky will next play the winner of Arkansas vs Vanderbilt in the SEC Championship game Sunday at 1 pm ET.
