Even the elite teams like the 38-1 Wildcats squad struggled to beat Georgia in their home building, so we probably shouldn’t be surprised this Kentucky team was barely able to squeak this one out with a hard-fought win.
But a win is a win, and the free-throw stripe proved to be the difference in this one. From the 6:17 mark to game’s end, the Cats hit 17 of 18 shots from the charity stripe to escape with an 82-77 win.
This was actually the fourth time in the last five meetings with Kentucky that Georgia held a late lead before the Cats stormed back to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.
