The Kentucky Wildcats will be without Sacha Killeya-Jones when they take on Monmouth.
About an hour before the game was set to begin in Madison Square Garden, the team announced that Sacha was ruled out with an ankle sprain. The injury is considered day to day, so it doesn’t appear to be anything serious.
Ankle sprains are commonplace in basketball, so perhaps it’s not even bad enough to keep the sophomore big man from playing if this were something like an NCAA Tournament game.
But because this is a matchup with a 3-6 Monmouth team, Kentucky should be able to afford a little more precaution with injuries today.
With Sacha out, that means Tai Wynyard should see extensive minutes for the first time this season. The redshirt sophomore has seen spot duty in several games this season, but today, he may see double-digit minutes while backing up Nick Richards at center.
