The Wildcats volleyball team dominated the fifth set against the BYU Cougars in Memorial Coliseum to make it to the Elite Eight of the college volleyball tournament.
The Four seeded Wildcats will take on the Nebraska Cornhuskers today at 4:00 PM for the right to move on to the Final Four. Nebraska defeated Colorado yesterday.
The Cornhuskers have a storied volleyball history and the Cats will be flirting with trouble if they dig an early hole like they have so far in every game in this tournament. Craig Skinner’s team has shown great resilience but Nebraska is a different animal.

One sport school indeed.
Calipari looking for a test against Monmouth | Lexington Herald Leader- Coach Cal notes that Monmouth has lost a few close calls and that they will give his Cats fits if they are able to hang around. Kentucky can’t afford to let go of the rope if they have a big lead.
Scouting the Monmouth Hawks | KSR- The Hawks have more size than Kentucky has seen since Kansas with two starters that are 6’8 and 6’9. Still, Kentucky is going to have another major size advantage.
Vince Marrow updates early signing period | SEC Country- Kentucky has had a rash of decommits lately but some talented players have been popping up on their radar. The Big Dog anticipates most of their recruits will sign early on December 20th. A priority for the Wildcats will be landing talented JUCO QB Terry Wilson who is visiting campus this weekend.
Kentucky stops at MSG for next stop on roller coaster ride | Coachcal.com- A frustrating point for John Calipari is that he doesn’t know what to expect from his team from one day to the next:
I just think it's going to be day-to-day," Calipari said Thursday. "Yesterday I told them, 'I feel encouraged right now.' They were like, 'Wow, really?!' Today I'll probably say, 'I really feel discouraged right now.' That's how this has been
What happened to Stephen Johnson’s production? | Lexington Herald Leader- Stephen Johnson had been extremely productive at the beginning of the season but had only one touchdown pass in last six games. I think a combination of Benny Snell becoming a beast and lingering injuries caused the drop off.
Sydney McLaughlin sets world record | UK Athletics- Track star Sydney McLaughlin set a record in her debut for the Kentucky track team. She won the 300 m dash in 36.12 seconds, setting the Junior World Record. She’s going to be a worldwide superstar when the Summer Olympics roll around.
Yankees close on deal with Marlins for Stanton | ESPN- Derek Jeeter is gift-wrapping an early Christmas present for his former team. NL MVP Giancarlo Stanton is being traded from the Marlins to the Yankees for next to nothing. Now we all remember why we hate the Yankees.
Floyd County defeats Romeo Langford and New Albany High School | WDRB- It was a 20 game winning streak for the New Albany Bulldogs that was snapped 49-47 last night. Langford had only 15 points in the loss.
2018 NBA Draft rankings | CBS Sports- To no one’s surprise Marvin Bagley is at the top of the list. Kevin Knox clocks in at number eight and Hamidou Diallo is outside of the lottery at 15. I think by the end of the season both players will be higher. The most interesting tidbit is that Jarred Vanderbilt sits at 21. Will he sit out the season if he feels he is a first round lock?
Papa John humiliates Rick Pitino | Courier-Journal- Rick Pitino continues his campaign of deflection on the basis of ignorance tour with an interview with the Courier-Journal. In his latest sad attempt at saving face, Pitino claims that Papa John tried to humiliate him at a board meeting and after that, Pitino went to his assistants to warn them to be extra compliant because the board wanted him out. Shut up, Rick.
