Kentucky running back Benny Snell has been named to the AP All-SEC First Team, and linebacker Josh Allen has been named to the second team.
Benny Snell was one of two backs selected on the first team, along with Kerryon Johnson of Auburn. He followed up his breakout freshman year with a sensational year two. He had 1,318 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns on 256 attempts, averaging 5.1 yards per carry. He’s second in the conference in rushing yards, trailing Johnson by only two yards despite Johnson getting an extra game in the conference championship. He became the first Wildcat to run for 1,000 yards in back-to-back seasons, and he broke the school’s career rushing touchdowns record this year.
Josh Allen also got more recognition for a second straight big season. The former two-star recruit had 59 total tackles, 10.5 for loss and 7.0 sacks. He also defended three passes, snagged an interception and forced two fumbles. He was one of five linebackers selected on the second team.
Snell and Allen — as All-SEC stars — will look to help lead UK to a Music City Bowl victory over Northwestern on Dec. 29.
