Kentucky Wildcats storm past Harvard: Highlights and Box Score

New, comments

A furious second-half push helped the Cats score their first win of a loaded December schedule.

The Cats picked up their seventh win of the season with a 79-70 victory over Harvard.

The game was close for much of the first 27 minutes, as the Crimson hit 7-of-17 three-pointers in the first half, keeping UK’s lead to just 42-37 at the break.

Harvard would make one more push in the second half and cut the deficit to 55-50, but that’s when the Cats took control for good with a 19-4 run, which effectively put the game out of reach.

A late Harvard run made the final score much closer than expected, but for the majority of the 40-minute contest, it was a great showing by the young Cats, as they continue to look better and better as the games roll on.

Kevin Knox and Hamidou Diallo led the way with 20 and 19 points respectively on a combined 14-of-19 shooting. Knox and Nick Richards tied for the team-lead in rebounds with seven apiece.

This was the first game of what’s shaped up to be a loaded December schedule that includes NCAA Tournament teams in UCLA, Virginia Tech and Louisville. Harvard is among the favorite to win the Ivy League, so UK could end up facing four teams this month that make it to the Big Dance.

Here is the final box score from the Cats’ seventh win:
