This came just hours after UK landed a commitment from 2018 offensive lineman Kenneth Horsey.
Mahone is a 6-3, 299 lb 3-4 defensive end/4-3 defensive tackle. He picked Kentucky over Jacksonville State and Tennessee.
Mahone was a four-year starter at Manchester High School in Georgia. He was named all-state this year after totaling 72 tackles, 30 for loss and 12 sacks, and also had an all-region year on the offensive line.
Mahone visited UK on the weekend of December 8. He was offered on December 12, and it didn’t take long for him to decide he was picking UK.
His ability to play inside or out on the line will be huge for UK. If they go back to a 4-3 and put him at defensive tackle, he could fill a need for the Cats in 2018.
Mahone is the only defensive lineman the Wildcats have recruited for 2018 (that we know of). You can check out his highlight reel below.
