James Young was drafted 17th overall in 2014 to the Boston Celtics.
Unfortunately, he never got much of a chance with the Celtics in his three seasons in Boston. He never started in an NBA game and appeared in less than 32 games in each of his three seasons.
After the Celtics chose to allow Young to leave team at the end of his rookie contract, it looked like Young might have a tough time getting a chance in the league. He was signed by the Milwaukee Bucks, but would be waived one month later. He did get the chance to stay on with Milwaukee’s G-League team, the Wisconsin Herd.
Young has done considerably well just seven games into the season. He is currently second in the G-League in scoring averaging over 27 points per game. He was also just recently named the G-League performer of the week for the week of November 13th through the 19th.
The Wisconsin Herd are currently 6-3, and Young has been a huge player for the team. This is great for James Young and it will be interesting to see if Young will get the chance to play some games for the Bucks this season.
After three tough years to start his NBA career, Young is playing to a level that will get him another shot in the league.
