John Wall gets another shot at Lonzo Ball

John Wall gets another chance to welcome Lonzo Ball to the NBA.

Thursday night, John Wall will get a shot at redemption when the Washington Wizards host the Los Angeles Lakers in another Wall - Ball matchup. That game will tip off at 7:00 PM.

The first time these two teams met back on October 25th the Lakers came away with a 102-99 overtime win in LA. This time Wall will look to avenge that loss with a home win of his own.

As we all know, the buildup for the game last month was an interesting one to watch. Lavar Ball who never stops getting himself into the headlines with his mouth was once again talking.

Before that matchup Lavar, after the Lakers lost to Anthony Davis, Demarcus Cousins, Darius Miller, and the rest of the Pelicans came out and said, “Washington coming in here Wednesday, they better beware because Lonzo isn’t losing again, not in the same week”.

Not only was Lavar talking but the Wizards starting center Marcin Gortat tweeted about that quote.

In that first game against the Lakers, John Wall had 18 points on 7-22 shooting (31%). Not his best performance shooting the ball, but he did manage to get 9 assists.

Wall also kept Ball from having a big scoring game, holding him to 6 points on 2-11 shooting (18%) but Ball finished with 10 assists, 8 rebounds and a win. Neither played well and both will be looking to have a much stronger performance when they meet on the court Thursday.

Since that game, the Lakers have a record of 3-4 while the Wizards went 2-4 in the same stretch. Wall and the Wizards will enter the game coming off a loss to the NBA’s last-place in the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday night, a game the Wizards should not have lost.

Thursday nights matchup will be a fun one to watch to see if John Wall can do what Gortat said he would do the last time and “torture” Ball for the entirety of the game and get the win or will Ball and the Lakers once again face the Wizards and leave Washington with a win.
