With the early signing period underway, ESPN’s Jeff Borzello has released updated predictions for a number of top remaining recruits.
He’s predicted a few of them to pick Kentucky: Zion Williamson, Keldon Johnson and Tyler Herro.
Borzello says Kentucky’s competitors have gained ground on the Williamson front, which is surprising to me. The Cats were back and forth with Kansas in the Crystal Ball, but Kentucky has been the leader for a little while now. He predicted Kentucky with a confidence level of 35 percent. Clemson, Duke, North Carolina are all still in the mix.
A couple weeks ago, this recruitment seemed fairly positive for Kentucky -- but that’s changed significantly since then. The Wildcats still might be the favorite, but Clemson, Duke and North Carolina have all made up ground in the last month. North Carolina hosted him on a visit in late October, while Duke brought him the weekend prior. Clemson is hoping to get him on campus this coming weekend. This one can still go in a number of directions.
Borzello had a bit more confidence when predicting Johnson to Kentucky, but noted that with his recruitment possibly going past the early signing period, there’s a chance that there could be a few more turns in Johnson’s decision process. He predicted Kentucky with a confidence level of 55 percent, and has Maryland, Texas and NC State in the mix.
Borzello was most confident about Herro’s prediction. Kentucky certainly seems to be the clear favorite for the 4-star shooting guard after he was offered by the Cats following his decommitment from Wisconsin. Borzello predicted he’ll pick Kentucky with a confidence level of 70 percent. He noted Villanova and Oregon as others in the mix.
He also has Kentucky in the mix for R.J. Barrett, Bol Bol, Darius Garland, Quentin Grimes, and mentioned the Cats in connection with Moses Brown.
