The recruitment of Tyler Herro has been moving fast, so much that it appeared he could commit during the early signing period.
Herro will take an official visit to UK next weekend, which comes days before the fall period ends on Nov. 15. Had that been the only visit Herro took, it would have been an easy call to sign in the fall, but it looks like he may have other plans.
According to ESPN recruiting guru Paul Biancardi, Herro plans to visit the Oregon Ducks and Villanova Wildcats, though it’s unclear when those visits would take place.
Biancardi adds that the Kansas Jayhawks and Butler Bulldogs are also in the mix, though it’s unclear if they will secure official visits.
Here is more of Biancardi’s report, as well as a brief scouting report on Herro:
After evaluating him over the years the four star guard is one of the best mid-range pull-up jump shooters in the high school game as well as being very effective in ball screens as a shooter or a playmaker. Herro is currently ranked no.27 in the ESPN 100 and went on to say. "I️ am looking to for a school where the style of play fits my game and where I️ can contribute early in my career."
Even with this report, I still think there’s a decent chance Herro commits to UK during or right after his official visit, allowing him to sign in the early period, which runs from Nov 8-15.
If Herro takes any more visits after his trip to Lexington, he’ll almost certainly miss the fall deadline to sign a letter of intent.
It’s also worth noting that Ben Roberts of the Lexington Herald-Leader thinks it’s still possible, if not probable, that Herro signs in the fall.
In the meantime, Herro, like all of us, is just admiring how big of an arm Zion Williamson has:

Herro and Zion are both being recruited heavily by UK and are two of the likeliest commits the Cats score in 2018.
