We rave about Benny Snell’s sophomore season a lot. But despite that, I don’t think we give enough credit to just how spectacular he really was. He carried a much heavier load than he did in his freshman season, not just in the backfield but in a “carrying the team” sense as well. He dwarfed just about every other single season rushing performance from anyone at Kentucky. On his way to topping UK’s single season and career rushing touchdown records, Snell made sure the celebration of each one was just as memorable as the run itself. He heel-clicked, he stared down the wire camera, he leaped into the arms of his teammates and he put the L’s down no matter the score.
Benny the bandit made himself a superstar in his second season, and the nation has no choice but to take notice of him in year three.
KSR’s Nick Roush talks more about Snell’s historic season here, including the adversity he had to face and the numbers that made it possibly the greatest season a Kentucky running back has ever had.
