Is this the last we’ve seen of C.J. Conrad in a UK uniform?

Well, it turns out C.J. Conrad’s foot injury was as bad as initially feared. Despite Conrad being listed on the Monday depth chart, UK won’t have the star tight end for another game this season.

Head coach Mark Stoops announced that Conrad is out for the year with a lisfranc foot injury. It will require surgery and cause him to miss this week’s matchup with the Louisville Cardinals, as well as UK’s bowl game.

Conrad is UK’s third-leading receiver this season with 16 catches for 286 yards and four scores. The numbers only begin to tell the story though, as UK’s passing offense doesn’t present a lot of chances for Conrad to shine.

Entering Week 13, UK ranks 106th nationally in passing attempts. This a run-heavy offense that doesn’t feature the tight ends much, so while Conrad’s numbers are small, he still has a world of NFL potential that may have led to him declaring for the draft at season’s end before this injury came about.

The 6-5, 245-pound tight end was getting a lot of NFL buzz earlier this season. While it’s possible he still leaves for the pros, this injury may force Conrad to return for his senior season in 2018.
