For the first time all season, we didn’t have to sweat out a win deep in the fourth quarter. The Kentucky Wildcats took care of business 44-21 against the Vanderbilt Commodores.
A big part of that win was the play of Benny Snell. He rushed for 116 yards and three touchdowns and he could have done more but with the game in hand, Mark Stoops opted to get Siheim King and AJ Rose some touches.
Snell is now the record holder for most rushing touchdowns as a Wildcat and he’s only a sophomore. Not only did he break the rushing touchdown record, he became the first Wildcat to go for 1,000 yards in back-to-back seasons.
Snell is a special player and will go down as the best to ever run the ball at Kentucky. And he will be back for a third season.

Mark Stoops earns bonus, extension after win | SEC Country- Stoops’ contract states that his contract is extended one year after he wins a seventh game. This gave Stoops a hefty $250,000 bonus as well.
Lynn Bowden fumble sets up Kentucky touchdown | KSR- After a phenomenal catch, the freshman sprinted down the sidelines towards the end zone. But a Vandy defender caught up with him and punched the ball out. Luckily Charles Walker recovered it and the Cats scored soon after. Bowden made sure to atone for his sins:

Folks he’s here for two more seasons. Buckle up.
Mark Stoops writes his redemption song | LHL- Things looked down last week as Kentucky blew a 10 point lead and lost to Ole Miss. Many were picking the Cats to stumble at Vanderbilt, a place where Stoops had yet to win a game. But with a complete team performance, Stoops has his team right back to where they want to be at 7-3.
Keldon Johnson picks Kentucky | SEC Country- To add to the fun yesterday, John Calipari picked up a commitment from 5-star shooting guard Keldon Johnson. The 6-6 player is ranked as the 8th player in the country according to the 24/7 composite. He joins 5 star point guard Immanuel Quickley as Cal’s second commit. Four star guard Tyler Herro is on his official visit this weekend and the thought is that he will commit soon as well.
He’s a top ten player but it’s not crazy to say he’s undervalued:
And was Immanuel Quickley dropping a hint at things to come?

FYI Herro wears #2 and Zion Williamson wears #12. And Quickley get one million internet points for the Goose and Maverick tweet.
Kentucky basketball set for quick turnaround | CoachCal.com- In an effort to get his team ready for a showdown with Kansas on Tuesday night, John Calipari scheduled two games in three days. Fresh off of their season opener, the Cats will take on Vermont today at 3:30.
Five things to know about Vermont | LHL- The Catamounts are returning four players from an NCAA tournament berth last season, their second in a row. This is going to be a very tough test for this young Kentucky team.
Wild day in college football shaking up the playoffs | ESPN- With Miami and Auburn blowing out #1 Georgia and #3 Notre Dame, the Tide look to claim number one after their fourth quarter win in Starkville. The Oklahoma Sooners look to make their way into the playoff after beating #6 TCU. Which teams will be #3 and #4? My money is on Miami and Clemson but Wisconsin has a GOOD argument.
Projected top 25 | CBS- This projection has Bama one, Miami two, Clemson three, and Oklahoma four. I might flip flop Clemson and Oklahoma but this is pretty accurate. Kentucky is not in the rankings at 7-3. Oh well.
SEC Power Rankings | Saturday’s Down South- Florida drops to the bottom of the barrel after losing to South Carolina while Kentucky jumps from 8 to 7:
Kentucky has done everything except win impressively, but its schedule gives them two house money opportunities to impress. If Kentucky wins either, it’s hard to label their season anything but a success
I would say yesterday was an impressive win but whatever. SEC elites and all.
Coach K scores 1,000th win | Sporting News- BARF.
Bill Walton crushes UCLA players accused of shoplifting in China | Sports Illustrated- The outspoken basketball legend apologized “on behalf of the human race” for the accused shoplifters, one of which is Lonzo Ball’s younger brother LiAngelo Ball.

House of Cards writers scrambling to rewrite season 6 | The Wrap- With Kevin Spacey as persona non grata in Hollywood, the writers of House of Cards are scrambling to write the final season without the lead character. With or without Spacey, count me out.
