Some good news for Kentucky fans on Jarred Vanderbilt (I think)! John Calipari has confirmed that there is a timetable for Vanderbilt’s return.
“Jarred, I met with him and the doctor today,” Calipari said following UK’s 92-67 exhibition win over Morehead State. “We’re on a timetable. Some conditioning, work with Kenny [Payne], and start practicing and then see where we are.
This would seemingly be good news on Vanderbilt, but then again, without knowing the timetable, it’s untelling when this means he’ll be able to practice and play in games. The initial timetable was for Vanderbilt to return around January, though it certainly appears that’s no longer that case after the freshman forward avoided surgery to his injured foot.
“There’s a good timetable now for him,” calipari added. “It’s not just by chance, happenstance. We know and if we have to move it a little bit, we can. But let’s start for a timetable. Would be nice to have one more guy.”
Again, Calipari did not say what that timetable was; just that there is a timetable. And it sounds like it’s pretty elastic for the time being. But hey, that’s progress after the boot came off. Once he starts getting those workouts in and getting back to practicing, I’m sure we’ll have a better idea of when Vanderbilt is likely to return.
Vanderbilt is rehabbing a foot injury, something that’s been a recurring problem for him in the last couple years. There were previously some fears that he would sit out for the entire season, but now, there appears to be a chance he only misses a handful of games in November and perhaps early December.
