For once, the Kentucky Wildcats don’t have the premier hoops freshman in the SEC.
This year, that distinction goes to the Missouri Tigers, who have Michael Porter Jr., regarded by many as the top incoming college freshman. On Wednesday, Porter was one of the stars of SEC Media Day today, and of course he got Kentucky questions.
“They’re a great team. I know like all those guys, Quade (Green), Kevin (Knox), Hamidou (Diallo), Jarred (Vanderbilt) P.J. (Washington), Nick (Richards). So I know all those guys from so many different events I’ve been in,” said Porter. “
“So it’ll be crazy going against each other in college. I wish them the best. I wish Kevin was here at Mizzou, but I mean he chose Kentucky, and I just wish him the best. I can’t wait to go against him now.”
Porter also talked about why he didn’t go to Kentucky, explaining that he wanted to be the reason Missouri gets back on the map as a program.

John Calipari, Hamidou Diallo and Wenyen Gabriel will address the media later Wednesday.
