National Signing Day is almost here, and this year’s class promises to be one of the best we’ve ever seen from Kentucky Football.
After a breakout season that featured wins over four bowl teams, including then-No. 13 Louisville, Mark Stoops and his staff have assembled one of the best recruiting hauls this program has ever seen.
Heading into Signing Day, UK is poised to finish with one of the highest-ranked classes ever since the inception of online recruiting services. This class had been ranked in the top 25 range ever since the regular season ended, and the hope is it will finish ever higher with a few more Signing Day commitments.
Signing Day coverage will begin bright and early at 8 a.m. ET on Feb. 1 and continue late into the morning. Kentucky Wildcats TV will produce its webcast live from the UK football war room, located in the recruiting room at Commonwealth Stadium.
The live stream will feature exclusive access to Mark Stoops and his staff, as well as Jeff Piecoro and Freddie Maggard doing a film room segment in which they break down the newest Wildcats (easily the best part of this event).
Fans can join the conversation and ask questions on Twitter by using the hashtag #FINISH17 and the best tweets will appear on the live stream. Coaches and other special guests will also take over UK Athletics’ various social-media platforms throughout the morning.
Fans will also be able to follow along on the Kentucky Wildcats Gameday app, available for download on the iTunes App Store and Google Play. Find “Signing Day Central” in the app by going to the “More” tab, “Fan Guide,” and clicking on “Signing Day Central.”
Following live coverage in the morning, Stoops will meet with the media in a press conference streamed live on UKAthletics.com at 1 p.m. EST. recruiting coordinator Vince Marrow will follow at 1:30 p.m. EST.
On Wednesday evening, the UK Sports Network will air a Signing Day special on your local UK Sports Network station. And be sure to read up on the early enrollees who are already on campus preparing for spring football.
in addition to UK’s coverage, ESPN is sending reporters to 16 schools across the country for Signing Day with Kentucky joining football powerhouses like Alabama, Ohio State, Georgia, Michigan, Florida State and Oklahoma as schools hosting ESPN reporters.
SEC Network college football analyst and former Georgia offensive lineman Matt Stinchcomb will be ESPN’s representative in Lexington to give UK coverage across the ESPN networks.
ESPNU’s signing day coverage will begin at 8 a.m. on Feb. 1 before jumping to ESPN 2 at noon. Coverage will return to ESPNU from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and will include live reports from the 16 campuses throughout the day. The SEC Network will also have Signing Day coverage starting at 10 a.m.
