In a partnership between UK Athletics and UK HealthCare’s Markey Cancer Center, a representative from the Guinness Book of World Records was on hand to witness and measure the crowd noise at three separate times during the Kentucky game vs. Kansas in hopes of setting a world record for loudest indoor crowd noise. However, it looks like they will not need the other two measurements.
Just after player introductions and before tip-off this evening, an electrifying crowd in Rupp Arena set the world record for loudest indoor crowd roar with a measurement of 126.4 decibels.
That's a world record! At 126.4 dB, Rupp Arena just measured the loudest indoor crowd roar ever! #WeAreUK #TurnUpRupp pic.twitter.com/a7al11cluo

The pre-game atmosphere around the arena has been buzzing all day after a great turnout for ESPN College GameDay.
The electricity continues to grow as the game goes on in the first top-five match-up of the college basketball season. Who knows, maybe the crowd will break it’s own record before the game ends. But would Rupp Arena then own a record for the most times breaking an indoor crowd roar record in one night?
Tune in now to ESPN as the crowd continues to #TurnUpRupp in an attempt to will this Kentucky team to victory.
