Mark Stoops won’t back down from anyone, and he’s not going down without a fight for Jedrick Wills.
Stoops and other UK coaches hung out with Wills this week as they work to flip the four-star tackle to the Cats from Alabama. They just took another major step towards making that happen.
According to Rivals.com’s Justin Rowland, Wills will be taking an official visit to UK this weekend, just days before National Signing Day begins. The fact that Wills is even taking this visit speaks to how hard the UK staff has worked to get him, even though the allure of the Crimson Tide has seemingly been too much to overcome.
The 6-5, 318-pound tackle is rated 64th overall by Scout.com, 56th by 247, 25th by Rivals.com, and 33rd by ESPN. ‘If’ Wills were to flip to UK, he would be one of the highest-ranked recruits to ever pick Kentucky Football.
Wills has been committed to Alabama since Nov. 15, but UK has recruited him ever since. He and members of the staff were spotted having dinner together Thursday night in Lexington after playing badminton earlier in the day.
Even so, Wills has maintained his allegiance to Alabama throughout, but Stoops hopes this final push changes his thinking by Signing Day.
