While the Kentucky Wildcats already hold the world record for most wins by a college basketball program, UK Athletics and UK HealthCare’s Markey Cancer Center are teaming up to give Kentucky fans the opportunity to set another world record on Saturday.

During a top 5 match-up between Kentucky and the Kansas Jayhawks, the Guinness Book of World Records will be measuring the noise in Rupp Arena in an attempt to set a world record for the loudest indoor crowd cheer.

The crowd noise will be measured at three times during the game, the first coming just after player introductions. UK Athletics encourages all fans to be in their seats by this time to help reach the noise level necessary to break the record.

Only natural noise (clapping, cheering, yelling) will be gauged at this event, so leave your noisemakers at home. Want to come to the game by can’t handle the noise? Suck it up. Fans will be provided with a free set of ear plugs as they enter the arena.

The world record would be really cool, but this game also has huge implications for Kentucky’s seeding in the NCAA tournament. In what may be the biggest regular season match-up in college basketball this season, the Big Blue Nation needs to bring it loud on Saturday to support the Wildcats. That’s right, we are looking at you lower arena fans.

Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. If you want to be part of a record-setting crowd, make sure you get there early to help #TurnUpRupp!
