With De’Aaron Fox injured and South Carolina surging, Kentucky needed a spark. They got it and then some from Derek Willis.
It came in the second half when the senior forward threw down easily the best dunk of his UK career, and it had Rupp Arena rocking as though he’d just hit a game-winner.
It ended up being somewhat close to a game-clincher as it was part of a 30-18 run that put the game out of reach.
Perhaps the best part of the dunk was how shocked Sacha Killeya-Jones was on the bench.
The freshman forward certainly appeared like he’d never seen a dunk like that before. It was also good seeing Fox so animated and fired up for his teammate, despite missing much of the game with an ankle injury.
